1. no such thing as good or bad cholesterol. it is the "carrier" of cholesterol that makes the difference. there are high density lipoproteins (HDL) which are the good carrier of cholesterol. and low density lipoproteins are the bad carrier of cholesterol.

2. some experts say 200 milligrams and other say 300 mg. the body also manufactures it's own cholesterol in the liver.

3. reducing the saturated fat intake will decrease LDL. increasing the unsaturated fat intake will increase HDL improving the ratio of HDL:LDL. a high fiber intake (30 grams daily) will decrease the total cholesterol value.

4. fats and cholesterol are both lipids
