Nation of Islam is a deviation of islam. Deviations are not part of Islam when they violate the foundations/pillars. For instance, like saying you are a Muslim but you do not in Jesus or Muhammad or abraham - (saw). Every 9/10 muslims are sunni (meaning they follow the quran and sunnah). Im not saying every other person besides a sunni is a kafir, some people dont know, some people have different beliefs. Really you are just drowning in the western culture, I grew up in America and I went through the same problems and doubts, when you move to a Muslim community it's beautiful, no embarrassment in praying in public, no rascism, you feel home in your heart. Try to connect with your community. To answer your question if every religion is fake and God does not exist, why are we here searching for our purpose in life with our miracle intelligence, instead of being gray blogs without a soul and a conscious. There is a creator, never lose faith in that.

That's really great that you're not believing all the hype. I mean, 1.5 billion people can't all be insane, gun-weilding terrorists, right?
I'm not really sure where to start, since it seems to me like you've already got down the basics but I want you to feel more than free to contact me. Wanting to learn about something doesn't mean you want to be it or convert to it or whatever, wanting to know and finding out is enough.
I'm not a scholar, so please don't think my information is infallible - I'm just a Muslim teenager, but I will answer your questions to the best of my ability and if I don't know the answer I will direct you towards someone who can tell you.
First, I want you to read the Qu'ran. No matter what anyone tells you or how many times they tell you, if it isn't in the Quran, it's not guaranteed. As Muslims, we believe that the Quran is the words of God straight from His (proverbial) mouth and it is the final law on every aspect of Islam. If you want to know Isllam, read it.
Also, maybe you should listen to the call to prayer or some Arabic Qu'ran readings, which I'm sure you could find on Youtube somewhere. You won't be able to understand it, but some have translations and it's very moving and nice to listen to all the same. Very unsettling, in a really good sort of way.
The translation by Pickthall is the best (in my opinion), and you can find that here: http://www.islam101.com/quran/QTP/index.htm
Here are couple more great sites:
The Muslim Women's League - http://mwlusa.org/
Introduction to Islam - http://www.introductiontoislam.org/
And like I said, feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about Islam, life as a Muslim woman, or even just my opinion on things. I always enjoy helping people learn.
I hope you find your answers.

First, I hope you will find the truth wherever it is.
I would advice you to carefully read the first ten pages of the most important book of any religion you want to join or believe in, in case of Islam it is the Quran and you can do the same thing for any other religion.
There is one fact that we all agree upon which is that we are gonna die, no doubt about this fact. But there are many questions that we need to know their answers :
1- Where are we going to go after death?
2- Are we really created by someone "Superior being,God, Allah,....,etc.", if yes, what does he want from us? Why did he create us?
3- If someone claimed that he is a true prophet from the creator, how can we check if he is telling the truth
and so on....
Very important topic that we all need to think carefully about, but unfortunately many are going through this life almost blindly. Thank you for asking such a question.

Keep up your search. You´re getting lots of support from other Muslims here, and, as always on this site, you´ll get some negative answers. Ignore those, and stay sincere!!
I`m a convert, from Canada, now I live in Germany with a Turkish hubby and 3 children. My way to Islam actually started long before I was ever aware of it.
Whatever you do, it is important to always listen to your heart. It will tell you the way to go. Muslims will never try to "convert" you, because we know that it is God who brings people´s hearts to Islam - we are only there to provide information when requested. Your heart is on a journey, so follow it.
(And here is the trickiest part - try to ignore all those arguments in your head. :-) ).
If you would like to write or even chat on the phone, just give me an email. I`d love to hear from you. I and the other Muslims here will try our best to answer any questions, or just share our view on things. Don´t be shy to ask anything - no questions are dumb. And of course, we have no expectations of you -- we all wish you the best!!
Hope to hear from you soon!!
(PS .- yes - isn´t it ironic how those who hate Islam actually bring others closer??)
Peace! (salams!)

I am very happy that you want to learn more about Islam. It's very sad that the hatred many Christians have for Islam only causes others to want to sincerely learn more about it, and possibly embrace it for themselves. I applaud you for being firm in wanting to learn more about Islam, regardless of what they say.
I've been a devout, practicing Muslim for 33 years. No apologies. No regrets. I'm still learning and growing each day. It's very rewarding.
If there's any way I can assist you, please e-mail me any time.
Happy Learning!

It is really nice to see someone searching for truth instead of believing in media and other people who can do anything to degrade Islam. Well if you want to know more about Islam then you can check out this website which will hopefully answer all your queries:
http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/hadithsunnah/
Also, you can always take the help of Islamic scholars in your local mosque. I will pray for you. May Allah bless you.

I am glad that you are reflecting so deep on the life now sister. First of all do not let any hatred get on your nerves. Just ignore them.
Lets talk about God/Allah and what he wants to tell us.
God says truth stands firm and clear so let there be no complusion in religion. So he does want you to think about who you are and what is the deeper meaning of your life!
1) God is the sole creator of everything that you see around that exists. Here is what Hazrat Ali who was the youngest concert to Islam when it began had to say about the human miracle of God,
"Man is a wonderful creature; he sees through the layers of fat (eyes), hears through a bone (ears) and speaks through a lump of flesh (tongue)"
2) Scientists and Philosophers across the world are trying to solve the mystery of God. They are trying to understand God who created human being from a drop of sperm. The God that created an atom to the earth to the universe we know. Indeed, a creation with God given brain trying to understand God of infinite wisdom.
3) When there was nothing there was God and that same God will take the life he gave us and give it to us again on the day of judgement and decision on our fate will be made through our character and actions.
4) God wants us to live a happy life and that we should not transgrass. To avoid transgrassion we as muslims do jihad. Jihad of being truthful, just and honest. Jihad of being loyal to our spouse and respecting our parents. So basically to have higher human values of peace, love and tranquality in us rather then our low self of competition, hate, jealousy, back biting etc.
5) The journey of life filters corrupt from the pure. Pure are the ones that will join God/Allah in heaven who will shower his blessings on us. Those who misused the life he gave us will be in trouble.
6) God is very much like a mother but his love is way more then that of the mother since the love of the mother was put by God in the first place. God services human beings like this, he is the creator of Cow that services human beings with milk to the water melons that comes from seeds we sow underground and provide merely water to often from the skies. He gives us great way of sustenance and just wants us to happy and just to our fellow human beings.
I can go on and on but if u have more specifc questions sister, just email and i would love to help you and one more advice sister, do not keep hate even for the christians, hate is a negative force, it will hurt your brain which is precious. Anyways,May god/Allah bless u!

Before you join any religion, ask yourself: Why follow when I can lead?
If you really want to find out more about Islam, I would start with Wikipedia.com. Be careful though since some of the material is not always neutral.
