In the opinion of most trying to read the bible, what is the bible for, why so many years passed to published?

coz it's a book of guides, counceling and salvation..
including interesting stories about,yeah,past.. it's a one-book-have-it-all..

It's easier to write about things that happen in the far past. Most of the stories were myths that were passed down from generation to generation before being written down. All of the stuff in the New Testament, for example, was written decades after Jesus died, if he existed at all.
