I am 53. When I was a small child we lived in Texas. We were going on vacation to Mexico City and we got to the end of our very long driveway. Dad was driving and looked both ways. He said the sun was in his eyes and he wasnt going that way. That was the turn to Mexico City. So we just went for a very long car ride, a few nights in hotels. (this was way before intertates) and we ended up at Disney Land.. Turns out this is where we were going all along butthey wanted to surprise us! We had a great time. This was shortly after Disneyland had opened.

They day my father sat down and taught me to pray with faith, and weather God said yes or no he would answer. I tried it out it worked and I have had unshakable Knowledge of Gods love for me. I am the Captain, life is my ship, God shall be my compass. I Choose were I want to go God shows me the way to do it right. But I steer the ship, so when anything goes wrong I point the finger @ me. The greatest gift my Father ever gave me! He must have known he wouldn't allways be here with me, so he made sure I knew my Heavenly father would always be.

The day my step dad adopted me. My biological father left before I was born. My mom met my step dad when I was 15 and they married when I was 17. I asked him to adopt me. I wanted him to be my dad and he agreed. He became my dad and we loved each other as if I was his by blood. He was the best dad a girl could have. I miss him every day. He killed himself 7 months after he came home from Iraq two years ago.I still love him and will always cherish the short time we had together.

My favorite memory as a child is smelling the fresh baked bread from the oven on a rainy, cold day. My dad is a professional baker and he used to practise on us children, the recipes introduced to him. I'm glad I was his guinea pig!

My favorite teenage memory was when I was 17, and I won "best rifle shot" on my Canadian Armed Forces militia basic training course. I had gone in to the artillery, on my 17th birthday, and was told by theri Sergeant-Major, "you're too scrawny...". So I went to Communications, and they told me "you're perfect in every way...that jerk probably didn't get any last night". It turned out that the Sgt. Major was our course officer on basic. He rode me hard, but my sergeants and corporals loved my drill/deportment/attitude. I got that award, and 20 years later am still proud to show people the plaque hanging on my wall.

It was a dream! I remember when I was 4 I had a dream that a bear was trying to take my sister (who is 2 years older) away! I told the bear, "Take me instead!" Even though it was a dream, I always look back to that and realize how much I really have always looked up to my sister. That was almost twenty years ago!

Sitting on the porch with my grandfather in the summer afternoon. Waiting for the "road maintainer" to come over the hill. Inside with the driver was a little boy, the driver's grandson... and my future husband.
