Windows 3 is the oldest one that I remember going public - but 3.1 was the popular one - I assume Windows 1 and 2 never got past the beta stage - and then they though release them anyway! Hence the hot fixes and service packs. Vista has a kill switch apparently in case of pirated copies. Don't have surgery in a operating room where they use Vista! lol

From Microsoft, Windows Version 1.0 only it didn't really take off until version 3+. GUI's prior to that include Apple and DR DOS from Digital Research.

from win me backwards all sat on top of ole DOS
win.3.1 was the stable release of the old windows format
all others were just crap
yet to me win3.1 wasn't good as dos
