It happens at my church sometimes...but it's not a frequent thing...sometimes when people are praying they'll get so overwhelmed with the Holy Spirit that they'll fall down. I go to a Foursquare church.

This is not something common in my church...it's actually pretty rare...and when people fall down they don't shake like they're having a seisure...they just fall back.

it starts with the feeling of lightness all over your body. when you're standing, you will feel your body is so light and you don't feel any strenght in you that you fall back and you don't get hurt amazingly when you touch the floor. there's a serene, peaceful, calm feeling inside you.

I don't know exactly what to make of it. I saw a lot of it in the mid-nineties, not as much recently. A British magician named Derren Brown has duplicated people being slain in the spirit in response to some suggestion he does to an audience. The thing is I haven't seen the same kind of suggestion in a charismatic church. People just go down. It doesn't look voluntary to me.

I've had people pray for me and lay hands on me without ever feeling close to falling down. I'm not sure what's different when people do fall down.

I was in Zambia Africa for a few weeks and attended multiple church services there. Many people in the congregation were slain in the spirit and also speaking in tongues. Im not calling anyone a liar, but it SEEMS to me that most people were just doing it to 'fit in' and also it seemed to be the same people all throughout the day (its a long church session) and on different days.

Many of these people also believed in flying witches who can use their tooth as a bullet to kill someone from far away without a line of shot. (True accounting of what i was told by a medium sized group of people there)

Overall I am pretty skeptical of both the speaking in tongues and being slain in the spirit.

I went to a large church where it happened a lot. Sometimes I think people were just "following" what others were doing to "fit in". I have been slain in the spirit a few times and it is a different experience.

It is a Good Thing.
Gives Peace and Rest.

On Planet Heaven, they get Slain in the Spirit too.
The Power of an Almighty GOD is pretty heavy on Human Beings!
Eventually, you will Learn how to Handle that Power so that it takes more and more to Bow you Over.

Sometimes when soldiers stand at attention they'll get so overwhelmed with the lack of proper blood circulation due to their knees being locked that they'll fall down.

It is a practice which originated out of an occultic practice out of Africa....... It used to be called the "Toronto Blessing"......or "laughing revival".......

come up out of her......

There were some that used to roll around on the floor and there were some who would bark like dogs......

God would not impart His spirit to cause men to act like animals...... yet, unto Nebuchhadnezzar was he made to have hair like unto an eagle (reggae hair).... and to crawl upon all fours..... but it was not a blessing..... it was a curse..... God punished the man.....

Do not be distracted....... God does not impart a blessing where men act like fools in His name....... Especially, before others.....

of Nebuchhadnezar, he had to learn to repent.....and when he came to his 'senses"..... Did God restore him......

Oh... people.... be ware..... and be aware......

Is it of God?...... Satan is a great deciever... comes as an angel of light...... people would indeed believe it was of God... But, some who have gone into this... when trying to stop, have been known to be inhabited by spirits they could not shake.... I don't know of many stories... but just one of these, is enough for me to say - hell no!!!!

your sister,
Ginger

I think it's an unnecessary and unbiblical practice at best - at worst it reminds me of some of the antics seen in such things as shamanistic ceremonies. To say that it's creepy is an understatement.
