Well depending on where you live, my suggestion is that you bring a parent or you won't get any service. Most (if not all) states require you're 18.

If you are asking other people for suggestions of what to get you should wait especially at your age. More than likely you will wish you would have got something different when you grow up a little. Not trying to be mean to you or rude just stating a fact. You have they rest of your life to get tattooed. Besides when you get a tattoo you usually know exactly what you want before you even go to the tattoo shop. So really think long and hard about this. Please do yourself a favor and wait a few years. I almost wish that the tattoo "age" was more like 21 because you really don't even know for sure when you are 18.

For your 16th Birthday?? and you dont know what you want yet?? I would definitely think about this one long and hard... I am all for tattoos, but only if they are well thought out.... plus people change so much from the time they are 16 to 25 that you might HATE it in 9 years if its just something you liked at the time.... If you feel the need to get one now i would suggest you get one of something that means a lot to you...... Good Luck hun, and happy Tattooing!!!!!

Okay, wow...16? Its a little young..but you do what you want...just remember, its there for life. And the lower back is considered a "Tramp Stamp"... Most girls get butterflies and stuff like that...its really up to you to decide what you want, after all its your body..and your the only one who has to like it... If the design is not something that you would be proud to show, then you shouldn't get it.... Make sure the design is of something that makes you happy, its what you want, not what others want, its not their body, they don't have to live with it, so therefore its not their choice... Hope this helps... and good luck in choosing a design!!!

I would recommend looking around for a while before you decide what you want to get.
1) You can go to your local artist and take a look at the flash, (pictures of tattoos usually hanging on a wall or bound in an album)
2) There are many wonderful pics of tats online, try doing a google image search and see what you find!

I have one last piece of advice, once you find something you like, print out multiple copies of it. Put one next to your bed, on your mirror, next to the tv, in your notebooks at school, anywhere you're going to see it alot. If at any point in time you get sick and tired of looking at it, I would try to find a new design.

May sound too corny, but I've always wanted a rose, with wings. It's small and tasteful. Also, I've always thought lilies were pretty, you could do two lilies back to back? Or perhaps Hawaiian? If your looking for something more tropical. If you want something with more meaning, try using a simple flower but add something meaningful in you life to it. Like a ribbon with words, wrapping around the flower? Talk to the tattoo artist, he (or she) might be able to give you some ideas.

You know, If your REALLY set on doing this, with your parents permission of course, you should do something tasteful, something you know you wont regret.

My suggestion is you are too young to make the decision to permanently put something on your body. What you like now may not be the case in 5 years. Besides, what kind of parents do you have that would allow you to do such a thing. Please wait! I waited till I was 21 for my first and 22 for my 2nd. I am so glad I didn't do it as a teenager. I really found more beauty in it at 21.

Don't get a tattoo until you are at least 18 +. There a ton of options out there for tattoos and Flowers are "TYPICAL" now a days, especially on the LOWER BACK!! These are called "TRAMP STAMPS". If you want to get something, get it on your shoulder blade, ankle, lower stomach (near the bellybutton) & be ORIGINAL!! Here is a website for you to check out...

www.tattoojohnny.com

there are THOUSANDS of tattoos to pick from...hearts, stars, rainbows, clovers, flowers, angels, cats...you name it..they have it. You will also need a credit card (MOM or DAD obviously) to buy the tattoo pic. and STENCIL. The tattoo guy/girl will need both of these when doing it for you, it makes it 100x's easier for them instead of randomly going into there store and picking one out. The prices also range from like $2.00 and up. Once you buy it, you can print it off and bring it to the tat. store.

Good luck

~S

PS to someone who said they aren't old enough..she CAN go into a tat. store with a PARENT or GUARDIAN, they will have to sign documents stating they are in charge of her etc etc. My bf's little brother has 2 friends who are 16 and 17 and have tats. but there parents had to go with them....how grown up!

Do you want my real opinion? Wait!! I got tattoos when I was younger and now I regret them. just wait about 5 years and see where you are at and maybe you will change your mind. That is not to say tattoos are not cool but I would wait and see and maybe just get a temp. tattoo they look like the real thing and the good thing is they are removable and you can change where you want it the next time. Be Well and think about it ok?

I am married to a tattoo artist, so please listen closely to what I have to say. Right now is not the best time for you to get a tattoo and for multiple reasons.
#1) Your body is not through developing. You are still growing and getting a tattoo right now would be a mistake. Your skin is still stretching and if you do it now, in a few years your tattoo ia gonna look like junk. You are going to have what is refered to in the business as "blown out" lines and stretch marks in the tattoo. It is gonna need to be redone, and no matter what, it will never look as it did when it was done.
#2) You are too young. You might like the idea right now, but you are not ready to make that life long decision. This is the reason why they have made laws saying you have to be at least 18 to get a tattoo. I know you might not like it, but it is the truth.
#3) No tattoo artist who is reputable or has any morals to them, will not do it, even with parental consent. Believe it or not, your mother allowing you to get a tattoo at this age can get you taken from her, HRS has done it before and will do it if brought to there attention. On top of that your mother could be arrested for endangering the welfare of a minor. This is a FACT!!

What I am going to tell you know is from personal experience. As I said, I am married to an artist and I love tattoo's. I am 28 at have 3 kids, got my first tattoo at 19, and right now I wish that I had waited on at least one of my tattoos. I got this one tattoo of a floral garter belt done on my thigh, had it done while I was pregnant with my youngest. With all that my body went through during pregnancy, what looked great when it was done, now loots like s@#%! At this point in time, there is nothing that can be done to fix it, it can't be re colored, and it can't be covered right. Reason being is what I told you about "blown out" lines, they have scared, it will never hole ink right. Please wait till you get alittle bit older. You will thank yourself for waiting. Of that I promise.
