I did it. I had to months before auditions that required both splits and walkover, cartwheels, ect. I am not a naturally flexible person. But I practiced every single day for two hours. Basically you need to stretch every day. Don't over-do it in the begining. If you stretch splits and cartwheels will come.

Flexibility is not a key component to being able to do a cartwheel.
Yes, you can train yourself to do the splits in 2 months.
To stretch properly:
you MUST 100% be VERY warm. The old school belief was that stretching WAS a warm up, this is FALSE FALSE FALSE. Your muscles MUST be warm to stretch properly with little risk of injury. 15 minutes of medium to high cardio is enough.
Hold all stretches a minimum of 30 seconds, do not bounce, and do in sets of three.
Hold where it is "comfortbably uncomfortable" never where it is painful.
If you want to do cheerleading activities, you must also build strength and balance.
The best way to train to do "russian" splits "legs to the sides" is to lay on the floor, butt against the wall and let your legs fall to the sides, read a book or a magazine and forget about it for up to 30 minutes. When you are warm of course.
Flexibility is target specific. Training to do russian splits will not help you do left leg splits, etc.

I think so. Flexibility is partly inherited, but by doing the stretches in "Stretching," by Anderson, you would be a lot more flexible in 2 months.

Of course it is possible but you'll need to put in the hard work!Lots of stretching excercises (sitting down on the floor with your legs in front of you and inching your hands towards them slowly) but be sure not to push yourself too hard because if you injure yourself you'll have to stop. Enroll yourself in local yoga or pilates classes, or buy yourself a video if you're not confident on doing that.
Good luck and be careful!!

That may be a stretch to be PERFECT, but you can always work on it and see how far you get.
I would suggest focusing on pilates, yoga, and strength training. Also, run. Running is a great way to get your limbs to loosen up a bit.

It takes practice. I would look up some gymnastics moves and progress through them to the harder ones as you go along. Good luck!
