I propose you get very familar with the library. Its maximum considered necessary which you're an avid reader of all varieties of literature, modern-day magazines such because of the fact the NewYorker or maybe technology. One can't be a journalist till one is relatively examine. superb you examine on standard 4 to 5 books a month at Grade 8 than be traumatic approximately severe college courses. have you ever examine all the Greek's paintings? Plato? Socrates? If no longer, those are sturdy to start up with. And Poetry, are you a reader of Poetry? those issues im metioning make a sturdy beginning place for journalism. There are no longer any specific subjects which will make you a jornalist in severe college . have you ever observed on television the intensity of expertise the extremely sturdy journalist have. they are nicely examine in only about each and every undertaking.

Make sure you are part of the school newspaper, yearbook and any debating or advanced writing classes. You are going to need them! The school paper and yearbook classes/committees are fun and you gain experience to go onto college publishings. Taking debating and wrting classes will help you become more well rounded!

I took most of these when I was in high school so I am an expert in this field...

Good luck!

Some type of foreign language is good. Journalists do not make that much starting out and knowing a second or third language will get you in front of the crowd.

first and formost research how much money a journalist makes out of college. It's not much. Consider a dual major where you can write freelance while your day-job pays the bills.

I'm not kidding.

English, Creative Writing, American Literature, US Government, and other social science courses.

Read, read and read.

You should also consider writing for your school paper, local community paper, and perhaps work as an intern at your local newspaper bureau.
