I was just talking with Captain Atheism about proof. His responce to being offered proof is---"I see you smoke crack." That is the typical responce when offered proof, because you cannot handle the truth.

Because it is easy for some people to say there is no God than to be accountable to God.

I feel badly for these people that dont beleive, I would be very scared if I had to put my faith in my self and not God.

Pray for these people.

I have never heard of an atheist requiring proof, although it obviously falls upon theists to prove and not atheists to not prove.

A theist is making a claim and a very strong claim at that. If it were in any other domain other than religion, people would require neutrally acceptable evidence. Proofs from tautology are not proofs, they are simply evidence the writer understands the rules of logic. I have never seen a proof of God that wasn't tautological.

Evidence, using empiricism, must be neutral. It isn't sufficient to present supporting evidence. That is debate, but it isn't proof. The evidence must be independently testable. Further, God as a statement of fact should result in outcomes different from God as a fiction. It really doesn't matter if God does or does not exist if the Universe is perfectly identical in all respects otherwise. If there is a God who wound up the universe like a clock and walked away, that is indifferent to the absence of a God as the Universe would be no different either way.

Christians, Jews and Muslims make much stronger claims. Those claims should be testable. If they are true, then they are obviously true. If they are false, they should be obviously false. Most of the world believes they are false and the fact of conversions makes the problem weaker for Christianity. The people who convert tend to be the marginal people. They tend to be in distress with fewer coping and intellectual skills. This isn't the group best equiped to make quality critical decisions. If it were people who were well educated, mentally and physically healthy, then they would make a better testament.

Because the burden of proof is on proving something does exist. It is logically impossible to disprove the existance of something, the same way you can't disprove the Celestial Teapot, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, the Invisible Pink Unicorn, etc, etc, etc.

And what proof is there of God's existance that isn't either:

a) Proof of evolution and natural selection.
b) Egotistical fantasy or circumstancial.
c) Completely illogical.

I'm not looking for "proof". Trying to give somebody "proof" of God (or no God) is like trying to convince somebody that your favorite rock band is "the best". In other words, I find it silly to be objective about subjective experiences.

The person who is always demanding "proof" from the other party, whether that's a Christian or an atheist or some other group entirely, is usually just somebody who wants to debate for the sake of debating. Their minds are already made up.

Some people want proof of everything. Although I'm not an atheist, I do like to find scientific reasoning for everything and I usually do... even for spiritual issues. Some people think with both sides of their brains. I'm one of those people. I believe, but I need to prove what I believe.

I'm not asking for proof of God I want you to explain how a God that is more sadistic and brutal then Hitler can be called Good?

Why is it that Christians refuse to answer why their God can be as evil as all hell and that is somehow still good and I am to accept that?

If you accept evil doesn't that make you evil by proxy?

What proof? Faith healers can't even manage to "heal" anything visible. Folks can fake being cured of being deaf. I wanna see someone cured of Down's Syndrome. Hell, I will settle for poison ivy.

Post a link to the proof! I need it for an argument I'm having!

Because they really don't want proof...they want to go on believing the way they do....change is too hard. Belief takes too much work.'

i totally agree with you. some people are just ignorant. like some "christians" who hear that something is a sin. they want to ignore it because they want to be right. and everyone else is doing it why should they have to be put down to such foods? but i digress, atheists are just ignorant people who use the (various theories mind you, that might not be necessarily true)
to try to prove us wrong.
