i understand that you have until april 17th to file taxes...someone told me that taxes were for calndar years (jan-dec)...i thought it was april-april

You are sooooo cute when you try to think. Also, never listen to "they" or "someone", yaddah. The tax year runs from Jan 1 through Dec 31. We have until the 15th of April to file our tax returns; unless it is extended to the 16th or 17th due to a holiday or something. If you get an extension you can possibly stretch it out until the 15th of October.

2006 tax return is from jan-dec.
