Real Help for the Poor-------------------------------------------------------
WHEN Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was on earth, he showed genuine interest in helping the poor. Regarding Jesus’ ministry, an eyewitness observed: “The blind are seeing again, and the lame are walking about, the lepers are being cleansed and the deaf are hearing, and the dead are being raised up, and the poor are having the good news declared to them.” (Matthew 11:5) However, what about the many millions of poor people today? Is there any good news available for them? Yes, there is a message of hope!
Although poor people are often ignored and forgotten by the world in general, God’s Word, the Bible, promises: “Not always will the poor one be forgotten, nor will the hope of the meek ones ever perish.” (Psalm 9:18)

Did you see The pursuit of Happiness? It is based on a true story, the man was so poor he slept on the floor in a public bathroom. However he never stopped believing and now he has millions. I think there is hope for the poor. I believe that God uses his people to help here on Earth, are you doing your part?

In our current state the poor will always be among us according to the Word of God... social justice is an intricate problem to solve, when I look at it from my perspective I am overwhelmed and intimidated. I don't think huminity can solve this problem, it will take an act of God. That is when I remember that it is not by my strength but by God's Spirit that they can be set free... free not only in the classical sense of salvation but also their current emotional and physical brokeness. You may have heard of the "here but not yet" theological concept... under this concept we as disciples are given authority to heal the sick, raise the dead and work miracles (yes, even today till the end of days). I have personally seen a broken leg get healed in response to prayer... it was amazing. We are called to live in the world but not of it, not only sharing the good news but also demonstrate it as Jesus did. If you attend a Charismatic church this stuff should not be too foreign... I encourage you to practice your Faith daily and see what wonders God will do each day.

Yes! There is definite hope for the poor.
Jesus Christ declared the "good news to the poor." (Luke 4:18)
"Wisdom is for a protection the same as money is for a protection; but the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom itself preserves alive its owners." (Ecclesiastes 7:12)
"Not always will the poor one be forgotten, nor will the hope of the meek ones ever perish." (Psalm 9:18) The Kingdom is a real government, established in the heavens with Jesus Christ as Ruler. Soon, that Kingdom will replace human governments in the administration of human affairs. (Daniel 2:44) Then, as enthroned King, Jesus "will feel sorry for the lowly one and the poor one, and the souls of the poor ones he will save. From oppression and from violence he will redeem their soul, and their blood will be precious in his eyes."—Psalm 72:13, 14.
Speaking of those who will live in Paradise, the Bible states: “They will certainly build houses and have occupancy; and they will certainly plant vineyards and eat their fruitage.” (Isaiah 65:21) Yes, “they will actually sit, each one under his vine and under his fig tree, and there will be no one making them tremble; for the very mouth of Jehovah of armies has spoken it.”—Micah 4:4.

In the book of John, Jesus says "the poor will always be with us."
But the poor will not be forgotten because the Church will continue to minister to them as she has since the time of Christ.
There's nothing wrong with being poor and the poor can offer up their sufferings. Jesus was poor so He can identify. Scripture said "the Son of Man had no place to lay His head."
Those who attain Paradise will be the "richest" of all for they will gaze upon the face of God for all eternity.

Mark 14:7 "For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me." Here Christ is fortelling His death that he may be able to provide for ALL Mankind, rich or poor. How much richer can a person be than to have Christ??? John

Christians would rather spend millions on a church than to help the poor. They need to stop putting money into the gas tank of the pastors navigator and start creating more jobs so the poor wouldn't be so poor.

Why don't Christians do more to help the poor in this life. All of you are just saying wait until you die then things will be better-especially if you send in that donation now!

From a completely economic standpoint, if the poor stopped procreating then the cycle of poverty would be broken and poverty would be abolished. Another solution would be for them all to just find peace with their situation and stop trying to fight it.
