Hello, I live in CA and was thinking about getting a real estate license this summer. I am currently a real estate major working on getting my BS. Just wondering that if I don't know what area of r/e i want to get into if it's still a good idea to work on getting my license? I know I eventually want to become a full-time investor in commerical/multi-family properties so will having the license be beneficial for this later on? Suggestions? Thanks.

In this market, good luck with that. Maybe you could start off specializing in foreclosures...

I'm in the process of getting my real estate license in Washington state, and honestly I have found it really helpful.
It's really helped me narrow down what field of real estate I want to go into, and I'm finding that it still helps when applying for property management jobs.
Go to www.proschools.com they have the highest sauces rate and are really helpful with questions.

Commercially, it can be very valuable. I work for an architecture firm, and we are always dealing with commercial developers and the likes.

Residentially (at least here in Maryland), the market is kind of crap right now. I imagine in about 2-3 years, the market will be good again, but business is not so swell right now.

Its a good idea just incase, and since the real state license is easy to get. But as of now the real state jobs are kind of too competetive. But its good though just in case.
