I've used Neutrogena, proactive, clearasil... you name it. But, the BEST advice I EVER recieved about acne was to NOT use a strong cleanser like those listed that will overdry your skin. What happens is your skin produces more oil to compensate for what you take away while cleansing and this causes more outbreaks. I started using Cetephyl which is a mild but effective cleanser and my face improved dramatically. I also use an apricot scrub around that girly time of the month because my skin is more oily at that time. You would be amazed at the improvement in my skin.

Is the acne all over her face or just in certain areas? Many young women get whats considered hormonal acne. This type of acne appears only around the chin, forehead and sometimes the sides of the cheeks towards the ear. Birth control pills help to regulate this type of acne. Unfortunately other pills and creams do not work as well when its caused by hormones.

Get A Facial!!
You need a deep cleansing, steam, clay mask & extractions by a professional..and it doesn't have to be expensive..check your local area and see if there are esthetic schools..I just graduated Aveda Institute and we give facials for really cheap..

in between home care..
Pick up some Aveda Clay Mask mixed w/ tea tree oil..Take a steamy shower
let it sit on skin for 10-15 minutes then take some soft cotton gauges and gently squeeze & twist the blackhead out..if it doesn't come out then leave it alone..it may not be ready ..you can even do spot treatments with the clay & tea tree and leave it on overnight..

believe me ever since I learned how to care for skin ..I have yet to suffer any breakouts or skin problems..it's great!

drugstore brands have weak amounts of the ingredient that is suppose to help clear skin..Proactive is way too harsh..
You'll be amazed at what organic & natural remedies could do for your skin..

So i just got back from the dermatologist, sadly he perscribed me with things i think you can only get in norway. he of course percribed antibiotic pills, but 2 other things too:
1 is called Skinoren, which contains vitamin A, and i'm sure you can find something with that in the US

The 2nd is called Differin, and on the label it says it has something called adapalene.... You might be able to find it in the US, but just in case i googled it and you can order it!:
http://www.differin.com/
better check to see if its any good first though, lol!

Sorry, i know i wasnt of that much help, but hopefully one of those will work!! good luck!!

I'm not sure how old you are...but
When was the last time you went to see your OB/GYN?
If you have tried all of those products and your face still has not cleared up...GO SEE A OB/GYN. I found out through my OB/GYN (a regular checkup appointment. ) that I had a syndrome/hormone(s) issue that was causing my skin problems.
