I have a tattoo on my inner ankle and it didn't hurt at all...it stung like a mosquito bite in 2 places and that's about it...i don't have one on my outer ankle, but my mother has one on each of her outer ankles, and she said they were the least painful of all (17) of her tattoos...

also, i grew up in tattoo shops, and the artists almost always say that the ankle is not at all painful...

from personal experience, go for the inner ankle. as a plus, it isn't easily noticeable if you are in a situation where you don't want it seen and don't want to wear pants or boots...

All tattoos hurt to some point more places than others. It is bearable and if you really appreciate the artwork involved into it you will get over the pain and enjoy your experience. Pain equals beauty, right?

I got a large ring tattoo around my ankle/lower calf. where it was on the bone was incredibly difficult for me to bear. It is the only tattoo I have gotten (out of 21 thus far, including the collar bone, neck, and sternum) that i could not stay still for because of the pain.

But, it is a great place for a good tat. like any tat, you have to decide if it worth it.

good luck

I got mine right on my shoulder blade and it didn't hurt at all. I think the pain is more of what an individual can tolerate not necessarily about location. My sister-in-law got hers the same place I got mine and I swear I thought she would cry. LOL!

If you have a tattoo then you know what it feels like. Why ask if it hurts? Just go get it done and you'll know, sheesh.

im going to say but i dont want to be mean.Girls dont look good with tattoos all over them. Esspecially when you get older it looks so ugly because it streches and wears out!! eew. Sorry no offence but goodluck.Hint: boys dont like them. they wont care because its not their bussiness and they just like you.
