Ambien called Stillnox there. It's the exact same thing.
When you go to a pharmacy tell them exactly what you want and you should have no problem. Say that's what you've taken in the US.
If you just go in and say that you can't sleep, they'll give you Xanax--weird. Expect to pay about 1$ a pill for Stillnox. Pharmacies are the same as always.
Maybe you should get a fill from your doctor at home, I think they would be sympathetic to your travel and jetlag issures.
Enjoy your trip and get some good zzzzzz's!

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

There's not much change as far as shopping or buying medicines is concerned. But watch out for cheap fakes that sell under the guise of generic drugs. Often, they are nothing more than talc and starch. You can get the real stuff provided you visit a Thai doctor and get a prescription....which is pretty easy.

If you want real ambien, buy it elsewhere. If you'd like melatonin, you can ask for it at some pharmacies, where they sell it by the pill, usually 12 baht each.If you ask for sleeping pills here, they generally try to sell you antihistamines.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of pharmacies here in Bangkok, some will sell to you without a prescription, some will not, you will have no problem however finding someone who will sell you sleep aids, ambien or stronger. zzzzzzzzzz

Thailand has a massive counterfeit drug problem. Be careful. I would buy the pills in another country.

There is no change in the country since the coup, it has had absolutely no effect on sales. There are plenty of Boots and Watsons outlets in any shopping mall. There is a very good Boots in emporium, where they can assist you in English, its absolutely no problem.
