it was the middle of the night and there was a war going on bombs were being dropped,soldiers were parachuting from planes and guns were being fired i was running away alone and suddenly everything went quite a man grabbed me my the neck and put his hand to mouth he dragged me to a nearby river and held my head underneath untill i was dead then i woke up but the strange thing was i felt a sense of relief for the last few seconds before i was "dead"
what does this mean?

Sounds like your subconscious believes your life is in chaos. If you believe in the after life, that man who grabbed you could be a representation of a lost loved one (male or female) trying to tell you to get out of that chaotic situation. Are you in a bad relationship? Scared about school? Mean people messing with you? Is your family dysfunctional? Whatever it is it sounds like your subconscious is violently trying to tell you this situation is not good.
Basically find out what this situation is... maybe it hasn't even happened yet, and get out... you don't even have to tell anyone cuz the guy is placing his hand over your mouth.

Feeling relief is normal when you realize it is a dream. However, in your case, dream of being in a war shows something unstable in your life. You probably encounter some problems recently. You projected all those planes, guns and the solder to show you that you are in some sort of chaos in life. That is a projection of what you are feeling now.
However, you are fighting to get out of this crisis, and so you woke up and found relief. In other words, subconsciously you don't feel happy lately, and you vent this feeling out in dream. Dreamig of being dead is a way to symbolize giving up. You may be having struggle in something and that is why you chose to wake up after few seconds you were dead in dream.
