Longer than you can go without water. But your body will be going through severe malnutrition, and your metabolism will switch to "starvation mode" which means when you do eat, whatever you eat will be converted to fat so your body can survive the next period of starvation.

Fasting or starving yourself is the least healthy (mentally and physically) way you can lose weight.

Hi
I ran across your question and found it interesting. You see I am one of those people that do the oh I am not hungry and wont eat anything. So to answer your question I just have to tell you what I do before I get to the point of execursion. I keep myself full by drinking a lot of water and or other liquids juice, coffee, etc..it is not completely no intake of food source but it keeps you going. I have gone 6 days without any substance of food before I fell ill. I WOULD NOT SUGGEST DOING IT!!! Well I hope you dont mind the little story but in my opinion I think that a person could go without food for about 8-10 days with fluid intake and without any liquids I would have to say about 4-6 days before the severity of dehydration sets in. this is just a thought dont know, ANyways hope this helped somewhat.
peace

Personally, for me, 2 months and 2 days, before I went to hospital. I have gastroparesis, an illness that makes you very full without eating. Not recommended, very cranky! However with lots of lemonade, somehow I survived. I do however, remember eating a corn chip in that period...don't know if that counts (just one).

It depends on your weight and size. But generally it is quite a long time, as long as you continue to take on fluids. Why are you asking this question? Out of interest or because you plan to do something silly? Without foods you will suffer from a lack of essential nutrients and become ill. Don't do anything silly. If you want to lose weight - speak to a dietician and exercise.

I have done two 24 hour famines for world vision (not back to back) i managed it, but its not easy, its good to get an insight into how hard it is for people where food isn't in abundance.

you are allowed barley sticks to keep your blood sugar up so you dont pass out. Good luck...how much have you raised??

This is a foolish and potentially dangerous thing to do. Even a modest fast may have health risks. Your body will switch to starvation mode, where both fat and protein are catabolysed = broken down. This will cause muscle break down, the heart is of course muscle and can become damaged.
3 weeks without food is potentially fatal!
