Sorry in advanced for mentioning caffeine!!! I don't fully know how sensitive you are to caffeine so I wont leave this option out.
Green tea has a lot less caffeine compared to coffee. I would give green tea a try. I have recently (this week) started drinking green tea at least 3 times a day and i have seen a noticeable improvement in my energy and focus. Especially in class.
I'm sure the caffeine plays a part in the energy boost but the health benefits of drinking it are reason enough. You can also decaffeinate tea by steeping it in a different cup for 10-30 seconds so I'm told (so i am told).

Other than that, avoid taking long naps during the day as it can mess up you sleeping patters.
Light workouts or yoga in the morning have been said to have energizing effects also. You should not do any intense workouts in the morning like heavy lifting.
Eating foods with more protein, Almonds are amazing because they have lots of protein and good fats.

I found you need to spend energy to gain energy in some casses. During wrestling season i would have intense 2 hour sessions everyday 6 days a week. When the season ended i didnt join another sport so i had free time all day. Around the time I woudl normaly go to practice I would have loads of extra energy that made me want to just run aroudn and be physical ( hard to explain) I wanted to explode! BUT since I just didnt do anyhting around those times after about 2 months I lost that boost entirely to the point where i started napping around those times instead. (I think its called athletes depression)
My point is, your body adapts to the need for energy over time. What do you need more energy for? If you arent going to spend that energy doing something then there isnt much of a chance of having it very long. Simillar to muscle growth, you body adapts to the need for energy as it does the need for stronger muscles if you show your body that it need it. Thats why you gain muscle from working out, your showing your body it needs more muscle to go about your daily routine.
Pfffhheewww

P.S. Making a circular motion around your eyes with your fingers increases the circulation in that area. This helps take away that thick, tired, and baggy feeling you get around you eyes when your tired.
Sorry if I went off topic a little.

Caffeine usually contributes to lack of energy so it's a good thing your staying away from that.
Getting lots of sunshine and using meditation, or yoga if you prefer, to reduce stress will also do the trick.
You said not to mention getting enough sleep but having a rigid and strict sleeping schedule will also help. Also sleeping too much will make you even more tired.
