Anywhere from Kingston to the Newburgh Bridge is excellent of striped bass this time of year, mid-May. Best bait is a live eel. If you can't find any, bunker chunks or herring chunks work. You'll need about a 24" leader, and a large 8/0 hook If you want to use artificials, a silvery hopkins or castmaster lure works. If you can fish from a boat if not the bass will come close enough to the shoreline to catch from the banks.

locate them on the fish finder if your in a ship. Jig a RSR silver slab "gradual" even leaving it nonetheless at cases. If vast faculties of shad are mixed with the stripers they don't seem to be feeding. save scanning with the sonar till at last you come across broken up shad mixed with them, those strippers are feeding and breaking apart the shad college.
