can i receive any money from unemployment insurance, even if i claim again a year later?

i did not know whether i could andi was told i should get a small portion perhaps,not nothing. I was off work for 8 months and had a claim in but they kept giving me the runaround till finally i said screw it.

Usually you have to base the benefits on the wages you were earning in the past SIX MONTHS. If you weren't employed, well, you don't have anything to base it on.
