..because some satellite companies offer channels that others don't. I'm talking about International channels, not American channels like HBO or MTV. We want both sets of channels, so we want to use both satellite providers.

You could have them both installed but you would only be able to watch one of the companies channels at a time. You woiuld have to unplug your cable running from your tv to the reciever to switch over from one companies channels to the other.
You would not be able to switch back and forth between the two with out switching the cable from the tv to the reciever every time

The answer is YES.
Each system is independent of the other, but you can ONLY watch one at a time.

You will need some type of A/B switch (available at Radio Shack or similar vendor) to choose which system to watch on your TV. I would recommend a remote controlled A/B switch. SEE http://www.radioshack.com/sm-remote-control-a-b-switch--pi-2049643.html

Directv! Directv can provide better channel determination than dish community. Dish has extra severe definition channels on the instant than Directv, yet by potential of the tip of the three hundred and sixty 5 days which would be fixed with an estimate of a hundred and twenty-a hundred and fifty channels planned by potential of the tip of the three hundred and sixty 5 days. Dish would not comprise community channels in the programs yet fee one extra fee for the locals. They declare extra low-fee sattelite provider yet in the tip it is comparable. Direct additionally makes use of better high quality cables with thier installation and the installers are better experienced and authorized. i comprehend many Dish people who've the undertaking with provider going out every time the wind blows. My superb chum referred to as me this night asking if that they had specials(My hubby is a provider tech) She is making plans on dumping her dish for Directv. Dish in elementary terms has get admission to to 3 sattelites and Direct has 5 they could recieve from. so as that makes it possible for better reception. i comprehend relatively some possibilities are by potential of adventure. i became right into a dish shopper and changer to Directv an prolonged time earlier Hubby became into an installer. i became into pissed off because of the fact Dish lost contracts to various channels and that i observed the place directv became into increasing thier provider. So I replaced. Little did i comprehend they could sometime be hubby's employer...LOL. As for me? i could in no way supply up my Directv with DVR or Tivo provider. I actually are transforming into used to the convenience of observing television on my time table and could in no way supply up my DVR.

It is possible to do that. You will have to use them one at a time though--you won't be able to combine the guides or anything like that.
