Some people believe that introducing fish before the second birthday makes children more susceptible to allergies. My son had fish sticks at one year old and did just fine. I would just limit it to no more than once a week. If there is a family history of fish allergies, I would definitely wait for the second birthday.

Around a year with no family allergies of others to fish.
That said - most fish sticks are like fast food/chicken nuggests, trans fats, etc. So you may want to be careful on getting her to develop a taste for that stuff so early on that nullifies the good benefits fish can have.
Also, when you do look into other fish, pay close attention to the mercury guidelines also.

When my son was a baby, his doctor said he couldn't have fish or peanut butter till a certain age because he could develop an allergy to it at such a young age. Im not 100% sure but i think the doctor said after 1 1/2 he could have these foods.

I started giving my son salmon long before he was a year old. I do however agree with the person who advised against 'junk food' fish like fish sticks! I know, they seem easier. If you must go with frozen, highliner makes yummy frozen individual-packet-portions in all kinds of fish. Or buy fresh - sole, squeeze lemon on it, rub mayonnaise on it, cover the dish and microwave a few minutes. Or bake for 12-ish. Ta-dah, easy-peasy and done.

If there is no history of food allergies...then 12 months is ok to introduce fish. Most pedis say wait until 24 months to start shellfish..but then again, in other countries kids are raised on fish and shellfish. I started my kids on both at 12 months.
When you introduce it, just keep an eye out for any reactions...rashes, hives, irritability...if you notice any of these instantly give benedryl and call your pedi.

I'm a very old school mom. If she has a couple teeth, cut them up and watch her. If she doesn't have any teeth, smoosh them pretty good. I think that children all need to experience the taste of different foods at at early age, then their not so picky as older kids.
