Basically, lentils, dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurts), eggs, beans and pulses, tofu and nuts.
Remember, on a veggie diet it is also important to keep up you're iron intake so you don't become anaemic, and therefore tired and miserable so try to include a lot of green leafy veg in your diet, especially spinach which is a fantastic source of iron.

eggs. Eggs is actually one of the best sources of protien. you need to be very careful if you chose a vegetarian lifestyle. nuts are also a good source of protien and beans and legumes. the fat in nuts is mostly polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats which are the good fats your body needs.
It is not healthier for you than a balanced diet because of the health risks involved so if you are doing it for that reason you are deluding yourself. If it is for philisophical reasons then I can't comment except to say that you had better be very carefull to plan what you eat and eat right.
This "planning" is the sole reason why the vegetarian diet does at first glance seem healthy because the average american (or person for that matter) doesn't plan thier diet and scarfs down cheeseburgers and fries and think they eat healthy. However a well-planned balanced diet is much better for you than pure vegetarianism. Vegetarians MUST plan what they eat in order to not suffer ill health effects.
The complaint that eggs have high chelesterol is not exactly accurate. More and more studies are showing that dietary chelesterol doesn't turn into body chelesterol like was previously believed. Fat plays more of a role in your body producing chelesterol than dietary chelesterol does.
EDIT: people saying "peanut butter" need to be clear: NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER. is good for you, the ingredients should be nothing except peanuts and water- if it says salt, get another brand. commercial peanut butters add fats and sweeteners that are not good for you.

legumes, lentils, soy.....there are several others. You can check www.vegweb.org that's a pretty good site. Protein derived from vegetable sources is always a better bet than animal proteins.

Hi! =) Here are some foods high in protein and great substitutes for meat/fish:
- pulses (lentils, beans etc.)
- nuts, nuts and more nuts (peanut butter) 0.o
- whole grain foods
- eggs, milk, dairy products in general
- legumes
- peas

To get all the amino acids you need to form protein, you need to eat a combination of legumes(beans, peas, lentils, etc.) and grains(brown rice, barley, wheat, etc.) And if you're not completely vegan, dairy products and eggs.

Beans!! particularly soya milk. great on cereal. cheese but not too much. nuts.
we don't actually need much protein to be healthy, just a little at every meal is enough.
