My 17 month old pug vomits in the mornings. He doesn't throw anything up besides what looks like stomach acid that is a little yellow or brown..He was on medicince for an immune defficency called generalized mange, but the vet told us it was cleared up. When he would come off of it before, he would be sick, but its been months since he's had the medicine and the vomiting is only recently started. He is in good spirits, is eating, drinking and playing as much as he normally does...just wondering if maybe it could be the heat or change in the weather. The vet is soooo expensive and whenever I go, they always rip me off because they do things without asking me that arent necessary, such as charging me money for one drop they put in his eye to show me where a scratch was..(I was not happy with that!) Any thoughts or opinons are appreciated! Thanks

How frequently do you feed him? We have toy dogs, and 2 of them used to throw up in the morning...the yellow bile. My vet suggested we change the the feedings to smaller portions, but more frequent. He said that if a little dog goes too long without food in it's stomach , the bile builds up, and they throw up. So, I went from just two larger portions a day, to a breakfast, lunch, and dinner schedule. Plus, I give them a milkbone chicken drumstick treat about 7-8ish in the evening. That way they don't go so long without food in their little tummies. Try it for a week and see if there is any difference. Mine rarely ever throw up anymore, and that was a couple of years ago. Good luck!

First off, get a new vet if you're not happy and it's too expensive. I was using a vet who charged a technician fee every time I had to get my dog vaccinations or a fecal exam. It was an extra $40 every visit and just got to be ridiculous. If you're not happy with the vet, get a new one immediately.

Anyway, since he's not vomiting food, it could be trouble with the lining of his stomach. Generalixed Mange might have returned from the last time he had it, or it might be an allergy. He may seem fine now, but if it persists, the acid may be tearing away at the lining of his stomach, and a more serious, possibly untreatable reaction could occur. I would definitely take him back to the vet to get it checked out. If his stomach lining is torn, medicine might not clear it up: it might only alleviate the symptoms for a little while, so it will look like he's getting better, with no more vomiting, but once he comes off the medication, the vomiting might resume at once. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Hmmmm....What kind of food are you feeding your dog? You may need to stick to a senstivive stomach food. My dog does this when she hasn't eaten for a while (like first thing in the am). I think her stomach acids get worked up. (?) But thank God I worked at the vet because I took her in many times...everytime, same thing SENSITIVE STOMACH. Now we use special food and it hasn't been a problem since! Good Luck!

It probably is the heat. He may be getting overheated. Make sure he has plenty of water near him during the warmer weather.

But just to be on the safe side, get a second opinion from another vet.

This happens a lot when a dog wakes up hungry. Try feeding your Pug a healthy snack before bedtime. Mine boxers like fruit (like apples...grapes are very bad for dogs) or a healthy dog treat (I use Natural Balance).
Good luck!

It won't cost you anything to just ring your vet to ask these questions.

If you're not happy with the vet you're seeing, either warn them to talk to you before doing any extra treatment, or find another vets. Unfortunately you won't find any better answers on here!
