I have recently received popups from Microsoft on both of my computers, saying they were validating my software (which is legitimately purchased). I can only assume they are searching users to try to find illegal software and disable it.

Here are some places that may help you find your product key. If you do find it, I suggest you make a note of it for future use. Good luck.

You can find the Product key for WindowsXP with any of these:

Find Product Key

Luckily there are numerous ways to find a lost product key. The easiest way is to download a free key finder program and have it automatically search your computer for product keys from software you have installed.

These key finder programs are great for finding lost keys from operating systems like Windows XP, Windows Vista and more. Many also find lost CD keys from Microsoft Office and other programs.

Most users looking for a way to find product keys are trying to locate the one used for their Microsoft Windows installation. If that's the case for you and you'd rather not download unfamiliar software to help with your hunt, there are some manual ways to locate the product key for some of Microsoft's older operating systems:

Find the Windows 95 Product Key Code
Find the Windows 98 Product Key Code
Find the Windows ME Product Key Code

If you're using a newer Microsoft Windows version like Windows XP or Windows Vista, the product key is encrypted in the registry and you'll need to use one of the product key finder programs to locate it.

Chances are if you bought the computer with all the original discs from an actual vendor, then you might have to call the number that comes on the screen. They will ask you a few questions about who you are and why you are seeing this message. If you bought this computer from someone who is not legit, chances are they probably used illegal software to install your system. Go to the Microsoft Site and check out if it is legit.

You are asking people to help you to bypass the use of illegal software ? Its not a case of losing the key, its more to do with that your Windows were installed using a pirated key, so having the numbers or not makes no difference.

Based on what you assert. It's tough to determine what the trouble is. You didn't say whether or not you're making use of High pace or dial or wi-fi. If you're making use of a wi-fi web, it might be sign barrier trouble. If you're making use of High pace, it might be adware trouble, if dial up, might be bandwidth trouble. If you had been making use of you laptop adequate earlier than. I do not consider it is laptop trouble. Modem energy surge trouble could also be feasible.
