Ok let me just tell you this - Miniature Pinschers are NOT related to Doberman Pinschers, in fact, the Min Pins were around before the dp. Being a Min Pin owner I would advise you to take serious thought into owning a minpin. I adopted one without researching their personality and maintenance. Let me just tell you, they are HIGH maintenance. They are very alert. NOT FRIENDLY. Do not like strangers, and don't like little kids. Ours especially doesnt like other dogs. Several other people I know say the same thing about theirs. If you are looking for a cute little dog to be your lapdog. This is not the kind for you. He growls a lot, he isn't so much aggressive, hes just mean. Actually hes an ahole. Hope this helps. Oh yeah ours is 5 + years and he still pees in the house!

Miniature Pinschers really don't look that similar to a Doberman...
http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/miniaturepinscher.htm
The Miniature Pinscher is a hardy little fellow that is very demanding and headstrong. This proud, overly courageous dog likes to bark. They are loyal to their masters, spirited and alert, with high energy. The Miniature Pinscher is moderately protective. Some can be very aggressive with other dogs, but they are generally good with other pets and children provided the children do not pester.
Check your local shelters & rescues, and consider adopting!

Pure bred dogs are going to cost several hundred dollars - regardless of breed. So save up your bucks even for a mini-pin.
That said, consider Doberman Rescue. I've had 5 rescued dobermans (and a rescued border collie and a rescued pit bull) over the past 20 years. To a one - these dogs came with questionable, if not horrific backgrounds. One dobe looked like a walking skeleton when I got him. The pit bull was used as a bait dog. The border collie was a throw away dog.
To a one - all of these dogs were and are angels. Truly gifts from God Himself.
Rescue organizations are careful about whom they adopt to. You need to demonstrate that you've done your research. Expect to pay between $150 - $300 for a rescue doberman depending on your organization. That's about half what a puppy costs.
Oh yes. These guys are spayed/neutered, socialized, often have obedience training, potty trained, and tend not to chew on everything.
Hooray for Rescue!

For info all u have to do is go to Yahoo.com and ask for info for doberman pinschers mini? Yes, they do look just like the real doberman pinschers but they are alot smaller in size. Mean? It depends on how u treat the dog. ANy dog can be mean but seeing that u have shildren u must teach them how to treat and not mishandle a dog of any kind. Good Luck!

I am the owner of 4 minpins of various ages. All are adopted rescued animals. None have been aggressive in any way and are lap dogs of the highest degree. Each came to me housetrained spayed or neutered and all vaccines up to date because I used a very reputable rescue group. They are easy care dogs. No long hair to brush, mine all like their baths and three of the four don't mind have their toe nails trimmed. The other one goes to the Vet for nail trims. I see no high maintance in these dogs what so ever. I walk my dogs in my neighborhood and all the kids love to pet them. They go to the local dog park and mix with other breeds of their size with no problems.
I would recommend a Miniature Pinscher to any one wanting a small to medium HOUSE dog.

They are VERY hard to house break, you have to keep your house picked up %100 of the time or else they will eat little things (an I mean anything little) and that will cost you big $$$ at the vet. Your Min Pin will love you and follow you around! Some of them tend to bark a lot. Your kids need to treat him gently because they have skinny legs that can break

They are just as expensive! I know because I wanted one. I have a chiwawa (not spelled right oh well) and I got him for a good deal. I can't find another one at a good price and I can't find a mini pincher at a good price either so good luck with that!

miniature pinshcers are just as aggressive, but can be a whole lot nicer. they're smaller, and can be used as bodyguards. a website you can go to is ukc.com. or buy the simon&schuster guide to dogs. they aren't super affectionate with everyone but can live in a family.

i have a mini pin and he is great he does follow me around alot and hes good with kids and strangers. just like with any dog you can train them to be whatever you want. if you want him to be vicious they can be if you want them to be sweet the can be. dogs dont just come ingrained to be one way or another they are just like children you have to teach them and lead by example
