Sounds to me as if his feelings are confused. You should decide if you want him as a friend or more than a friedn and treat him accordingly. Then let things take their course.

If a guy is actually saying that to you then he testing the water. If you like him find out more, he might just physically attracted and therefore be hot and cold or be interested in more but not sure how you feel. Either way he's trying to find out how you feel. Let him know, give him some sort of idea either way. It's highly likely he's just looking for a friend 'with' benefits.

It means that he likes you as more then a friend. I dont think there are two ways to go about it, and he may be using this just because he may like two people at one time.

It either means he really doesn't know what he wants yet, or he wants to have the benefits without the commitment.
Tell him to take his time and make his decision carefully, because he can have you as a friend or as a girlfriend, but not as something halfway inbetween.

Dont be manipulated by a wolf in sheeps clothing. I would translate his statement as 'Hi hot chick, I think I need to get you to believe I care about you as a person so that I can get into your pants on a no commitment basis when it suits me".

He means he wants his cake and wants to eat it too. He wants to mess around but he doesn't want to be tied down to you. What "IT" means is that he's immature and a waste of time. Recognize what he is, keep him as a friend maybe, but look for someone else to be with.

I would think it means he wants you to be his 'friend with benefits' and is not interested in being in a relationship with you.
