Yes I think so! They are now able to detect and treat Cancer earlier, so it throws the figures out on previous years.

Depends on what you mean my skyrpcketing? Certain types of cancer definitely are increasing in the over 50 crowd,.

There are lots of reasons for that.

1. That's the fastest growing age group in the population - the baby boomers are in this group.

2. Since there are more people over 50 then naturally even if the percentages stayed the same, the number of incidences of cancer would grow.

3. More skin cancer is being seen in this group, because the over 50 crowd was the sun worshipping group in their teens. We didn't know bad sunburns then could turn into cancer now.

4. Colon cancer has always been an issue for the over 50 crowd.

5. Lymphoma cases are also rising sharply.

That's just some of it, so in general, yes the incidences of cancer occurence in the over 50 crowd is growing.
