There is no such thing as a "really good" sub under $300. You must be under house arrest since you can't go out and listen yourself. You have asked this, or variations of this, question at least a dozen times. If you need friends that badly go ahead and plead guilty to trafficking steroids. When you are in the slammer I am sure you will have all the attention to your inputs and outputs that you can handle.

DDDD. I know you ask allot questions on audio equipment. The best option is not find answers here, suggestions are fine, but heading out to the store and hear for yourself. AVSforums.com is a great place to find some starter ideas from some very knowledgeable people. With so many manufacturers producing A/V equipment, there is infinite choices. Velodyne does make good subwoofers, but some of there lower line models are quite average. $300 is tough start point for a great subwoofer that puts smiles on your face when watching movies. You mentioned music, you are better off upgrading your speakers to maybe KEF IQ9, which will provide a 3 way design and larger bass, since you like KEF's. I generally dont use my subwoofer when listening to music, really does not add to the sound in my book. 2 channel analog direct is the best way with most standard receivers without bells and whistles.

Hi.dddd. Some of these might do .I would buy the KEF one to match your main speakers .I still think using subs for music is unnecessary the one you have in mind goes down to 35HZhz .Some KEF's go down to that. Like the one hugh mentioned.
