p.s and for all those who think healthier food is more expensive, it really isn't! i just bought a 4lb bag of wellness for just under $20 and that will last my pup a good 2 months! definately worth it :)

Yeah, it is unbelievable to see the ingredients in the lower quality foods like Pedigree and Purina.

Wellness is a great food to use. I use Innova. Canidae is also very good.

When did chicory, carrots, peas, apples and cranberry become dog food ingredients? There isn't much real difference between these foods. One uses chicken and turkey, the other only uses chicken. Neither uses corn or wheat. The biggest difference is the fruits and vegetables in the chicken soup brand. Both are made by the same company and its a good bet that the major ingredients come from the same sources. Unless there is an allergy problem your dog will be fine with either food. Feed whichever one is easier to get. The prices are close enough to the same, especially considering how little one pomeranian will eat. If you were feeding a working dog you might notice a difference between those foods but not with a normal family pet.

Hello...as long as the pet dog or cat food says 100% Nutrionally complete ..it's a good & best food, no matter the cost, which has made people more mad in this recalled dog food then anything else, cuz this company made them all from expensive ( even prescription ) to cheaper & it's pretty much all the SAME FOOD, but hey VETS don't make enough money..so they often claim theirs is best & have a stake in the profits ;) LOL !!! There are no 100% guarantees in Life & most people are about money & more money... Take Care :)

Like you I have spent a great deal of time researching dog food and I was terrified to learn about the ingredients in some foods. I would NEVER feed my dogs a commerical food those are just awful. My one dog used to be on most all of them and he had tons of problems. When I took care of him over and got my Lab puppy I spent months researching foods. I finally ended up with holistic foods and homemade dog food. I want the best for my dogs and want them to live long lives.

I feed my dogs Solid Gold. It is a premium dog food with no grain gluten, no crappy by products, just good food with human grade ingredients. Wellness is a very good food also. I have found that by feeding my dogs a good food, their poppy is smaller and not so stinky, and they don't have gas or tummy upsets. They also don't itch all the time and their eyes don't run. I would not feed my dogs anything, including treats, that are puchased at Wal Mart or a grocery store. Too many filler grains in it. And if anyone is feeding their dog Ol'Roy, it is about as nutritional as dirt. Just my 2 cents

I have been buying my pup Van Patton's Natural Balance, or Nutro Ultra weight management. Also Blue Buffalo, but the Blue is a bit too rich for her stomach.
Good brands but she is not a puppy.
Stay away from Corn, barley and wheat if you can.

I like Health Diet, it's economical, healthy, and it was recommended to me by an online friend I have who conducted a pet food survey, a close second for either cats or dogs, according to her is Nutro.

I get a 2lb bag of Puppy Chow for $5. It lasts me a week. Whatever you feed him or her, make sure the first ingredient is actual meat and not a meat byproduct. Dogs need all the protein it can get. Also, try feeding it a raw egg with its food about once a week for a really shiny coat.

I have been using "Sam's" food forever. I have never had a problem with it. I go to "Sam's" Club and buy EXCEED (Performance Chicken and Rice formula...30% protein and ...
20% fat.) I have never had a problem. And I start the puppies out on the softened food and then just feed it dry or slightly moist. GREAT FOOD!!!
