Spiral perms produce the curliest hair. But there are perms that are more wavy. It depends on the size of the rods used and rolling technique. You should specify what you want before your stylist puts a single rod in your hair.

It depends on your current style and hair type. Some people's hair take perms much better than others. Mine used to hold a perm for over a year! but I haven't had one in about 15 years!
