I'm not talking about Evolutionists here, but Christians who accept Jesus, but have a false understanding of Genesis and think that the world was not created in 6 literal 24-hour days 6000 years ago.

Will God forgive them for believing in a perversion of his word, so long as they still believe that Jesus died for their sins?

We'll both have to wait until we get there.

Ok, so let's see: aren't we taking this just a little far. I thought the idea was to believe and only believe. That's all you have to do>God and/or Jesus do not care whether you believe the world is 4000000000 yrs old or 4 days old, as long as you believe that God created heaven and earth and Jesus died for your sins, you're all good. I think that arguing semantics and condemning people to hell is an absolute perversion of His word.It even says so in the Bible. If you're gonna condemn people for having a false understanding of the Bible, then you gotta be on top of your game, otherwise you'll look like a hypocritical fool.

I believe that if you believe that Jesus died for your sins and has risen from the dead then you can be saved. But I also believe that the earth was formed over billions of years ago by a Supreme Being and that is not unbelievable since God always was.

What does the age of the Earth have to do with Jesus?

Many anti-Christians have taken this up with glee as some sort of "Death-knell" for Christianity. It's ridiculous. How much detail do we have of the Genesis account of the Creation? None. The English translation of "days" is iffy at best, and people have interpreted this as they wanted to. Does it have anything to do with man's relationship with his maker?

Nope.

As those new born again children of God continue to read and study God's Word daily, He will lead them to His truth, show them what is a lie and they will grow together with Him in life. Praise the Lord!Just keep them lifted up to Him in prayer!

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

To rightly divide is to understand with Godly wisdom and not earthly wisdom which belongs to satan.

Sorry, but this is the type of question that makes christianity
a joke for many people.
Will I go to hell if I put my shoes on first then socks?
How about sock-sock, shoe-shoe, or sock-shoe, sock shoe?
Oh Lordy what does the Bible say. What if I read it wrong!!!
I think you have the right idea just the wrong emphasis.

It's questions like this that make me miss the old "thumbs-up/thumbs-down" system for questions too.

Anyway.. to answer the question (or debate it, whatever)...

The universe is over 13 billion years old. The earth is over 4.5 billion years old. Both are proven facts.
