Something I heard recently interested me and having never read the bible i'm not sure if this is true, but I heard that in the whole bible there is no mention of heaven just phrases stating things like 'you will be known.'
Is this true?

No, the Bible mentions heaven throughout! "The Kingdom of God" is heaven--- and it also says "The Kingdom of Heaven" for example John 3:3 says "Unless you are born again you cannot see the kingdom of God" (or some translate "heaven")
God's Kingdom is Heaven! There are many scriptures on Heaven. It is described in the last chapter of Revelation, the New Jerusalem.

No, it's not true. The Bible talks about heaven many times, from Genesis to Revelation. A few examples are:
Ps. 14:2
Eccl. 5:2
Is. 66:1
Matt.24:35
John 1:51
Col. 1:5
Rev. 8:1
Rev. 21 & 22--read both chapters.

Yes. The Bible uses that word many times. John’s vision refers to the passing away of “the former heaven and the former earth.” (Re 21:1) In the Christian Greek Scriptures, earthly governments and their peoples are shown to be subject to Satanic rule. (Mt 4:8, 9; Joh 12:31; 2Co 4:3, 4; Re 12:9; 16:13, 14) The apostle Paul referred to “the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places,” with their governments, authorities, and world rulers. (Eph 6:12) So the passing away of “the former heaven” indicates the end of political governments along with Satan and his demons. This identification of “the former heaven” harmonizes with the fact that shortly before the statement concerning the ‘former heaven having passed away,’ John had seen a vision of the complete defeat of Satan’s forces and the casting of Satan into “the abyss.” (Re 19:19–20:3) The earthly subjects of Satan’s rule are destroyed prior to his abyssing, as shown at Revelation 19:17, 18. The description of a fiery destruction of heaven and earth at 2 Peter 3:7-12 corresponds to the visions in Revelation.

But of course the Bible mentions heaven.

Jesus preached, "repent for the kingdom of the HEAVENS has drawn near";

Jesus model prayer taught "Our father who art in HEAVEN"

I could go on but I that should give you the general picture.

descending out of heaven from God
oh and the description after this is awesome

Rev 21:10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
Rev 21:11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
(just a hint of the beauty)
Rev 21:18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.

Rev 21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

The Bible makes plenty of references to heaven. So many in fact, that you should discount your source as reliable. Just type the word "heaven" in any on-line bible verse search and you'll have plenty of links.
