My late mother, who suffered a massive stroke in 2005, entered a nearby hospital late on Thursday, April 2lst and was dismissed the following Tuesday morning when she taken to a hospice. So, there was part of a Thursday, all day Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and part of a Tuesday, April 26th. There was no surgery of any kind, but she was in intensive care from Friday through Sunday. Tell me how her hospital bill could have been over $24,000? Medicare paid all but $900 and I, as executor of her estate, paid that. The TAXPAYERS paid the remainder. I asked the hospital for a printout of the charges, but I couldn't make sense of it.

M1zZGgigG13zZ, Please don't imply that my late mother was a "lazy American". She was anything but that, and operated her own florist business as long as she was able. Three months after giving birth to me in 1942, she sent her husband off to war in the South Pacific to fight the Japanese Empire. Left alone, she raised me by herself for the first 3 years of my life. I think she paid her dues as an American citizen, as a mother, and as a human being. Have you done the same? Thank you.

I agree. My daughter was in the hospital for a month due to an accident. Her doctor alone, no meds, not the hospital, just the doctor was $55,000. Thank God I had insurance. Not only is health care expensive but insurance costs are outrageous too.

i do no longer understand why this might ask your self every person. ABC went to great pains to be sure that there may be no authentic opposing place provided. they'd not enable opposition counterpoint on the night of the form. they'd not enable the competition to purchase merchandising in the process the form. Face data right here ABC can now no longer be depended on as a information source as they have safely shown the intensity of their bias for the present administration. Liberals and ABC can deny this all they prefer, yet strikes talk louder than words.

W O R D up! And I can also attest that the quality of the over priced health care leaves something to be desired. I have been to doctors that are too busy to care, just enough time to charge for the visit, and that's about all. I can't tell you how much research I have to do on my own, and then still have to go to the doctor and tell her/him what's wrong with me. And don't even get me started on the medication price issues. Buzzy, I need a hug, and a cup of cocoa.

In a simple market economy, supply and demand intersect at a point of equilibrium price and quantity. However, health care in the US is no longer governed by traditional market forces. In most cases, the consumer is not the payer... and therefore the market forces that keep prices of market goods and services down to sane level simply do not apply to medicine. It's getting out of control.

Well first of all, look at your bill. Look at the charges for gauzes and q-tips. Notice how a piece of gauze was charged at about 9dollars and the q-tip was charged at 3.50. Unfortunately they will charge everything to you! Literally, as for the guy that said "thanks to illegals" that's pure crap, practically every other country has "socialized medical coverage" except USA. Talk to anybody from Europe and Spain, they all have Free Medical Costs! Delieveries, Surgeries, Doctor visits. its all free from when you are born! It has nothing to do with illegals. We've evolved from a society that accepted what it got itself into and transformed into a society that wants to sue people for looking at them wrong. Everybody wants to sue, therefore, Doctors fall into this category, doctors dont want to get sued so they charge extra to pocket for themselves incase one of their patients decided to sue, they will have extra income for lawyers. Its like health insurance; blue cross could sign up 30 people and collect $300 monthly premiums on each one for 11months, but the 31st person that signs up ends up with a heart attack or cancer, blue cross is responsible for most of the bill and will be at a dramatic loss if they dont charge the other 30 healthy people premiums of $400 next year to offset that one person! That is why unfortunately, you were charged what you were charged. hatchem, go to the graveyard and check your stats on Mexicans going and dying in the war. most of the name tags read "sanchez" "hernandez" "lopez"

Yes medical bills are a joke now and yet we are fighting for free medical care for illegals. You know that you can't even die for free in this country, an average after death expense on the dead one's family is $7000.00 .

Absolutely. The prices are so sky-high, its even funny. They should make them more reasonably-priced so everyone can get medical care. Or they can at least charge people based on their income, what they can afford to pay.

Yes, medical cost is outrageous here...Its because we have to cover the cost of everyone who does not have insurance. They have already stated that. But then they even put the screws to the insurance companies...There's nothing that can be done about it except die..
