Oh Courtney, my husband and I had never talked about this, one night I asked him and he didn't know the difference between them.
Our schools are woefully inept!

There is no conflict in my mind between evolution and intelligent design. After all can't all that science has developed and discovered have it's origins in intelligent design. Even random events may have been driven by an intelligent force. There is more mysteries to be explained in this world and they are being discovered every day. The way we understand events today are vastly different than when the Bible was written. Believe anything that you want, no one is going to grade you if you are wrong.

Intelligent design is bunk.
The concept of theistic evolution has been around for years, that god's hand guides the physical world in an imperceptible fashion and cause biogenisis to happen and has guided evolution to his own ends. This is the accepted position of the majority of religions.
However the big difference is that it does not claim to be a science.
Intelligent Design tries to prove the creator using (what it claims to be) science. In reality it is at best a god of the gaps, at worst lies.
All the arguments have been throughly debunked, and it has actually been established that it is really creation science AKA creationism. It was just renamed in the hopes that it could be slipped into school science classes that way.
Unfortunately there are still people who refuse to accept evolution. My modest suggestion is that that they get the original penicillin for any infection because there is no way that any microbe could have evolved resistance to it.

I believe that it was no accident that the universe had in some forms been created by intelligent design by a Supreme Being. There is too much order in the universe that it cannot be so. Now I believe also in forms of evolution and not the literal creation story of 7 days but it happened over billion of years. Since I believe that God always was this is not unbelievable.

Get a life, how in the world do you think God created the world and everything in it? He done it part by evolution. and he called it the first day, second day, and so on. Then he gave us the term of day and night to guide our own understanding of time. Our understanding is not the same as Gods for we are as baby's in our understanding compared to God. You don't pull out a math book and show a baby how to figure out how much water a tank holds and another medical book of why people cannot breath under water. You just let the child understand the water in the tank is dangerous and not to play around it. The same applies to our understanding of creation. We as time goes on are understanding more and more of how creation works but we yet have no idea how to create the smallest form of life its self so we sure have a long way to go yet.

Well the majority of US Citizens aren't able to identify the proper definition of evolution if given a list.... So yeah, they are not being taught properly. It's hard to blame them though, evolution can seem counter-intuitive until you really learn it in-depth. The way I was taught it didn't make sense, it wasn't until I started buying books on evolutionary biology and such that I learned how it really is. I think the "Richard Dawkins: Climbing Mount Improbable" royal institute children's lecture (you can find it on youtube in 8 parts) should be required viewing for all schools. =P
And for christ's sake, don't believe in ID! It's completely retarded, utterly devoid of reason, and is the complete opposite of science - it's a pseudoscience of the worst sort. Pseudoscience is a tragedy that impairs and disrupts human understanding of the sciences and ID is a terrible example of it... there is nothing even remotely scientific in ID, nothing reasonable, and nothing is proposed that is necessary. The complexity of life is a natural product of natural selection, organisms perfectly adapted to their environment (and delicate balances) are an inherent byproduct.
ID is just trying to put god into the gaps of human knowledge. But the gaps are growing fewer and fewer...

Actually, I think that's one of the issues with evolution. Because evolution takes such a long time to take place, there really can't be a lot of obvious examples of it. It takes too long for us to really see in our lifetimes. I know, fossil records and whatnot, but that's not convincing enough for everyone.

Haha, I'm always shocked also. There was a Gallop pole that showed half of Americans do not believe in evolution and the about the same amount don't know what it is.

The Bible accounts and the evolutionist accounts are never compatible. Therefore there will never be a time when every person will agree on one or the other.
Evolution is a scientific "theory" which, in my opinion, is not a very good thing to base my life on.
Creation is a theory to those who have never had a personal encounter with God, but to those who know Christ as their Saviour creation is the only truth.
I have walked with God over 33 years, and he has answered many prayers for me based on the Bible. I find it to be very difficult to think that somehow after all the answered prayers that every one of them can be attributed to chance. The real possibility of that happening would be as ridiculous as me putting a fully dissembled typewriter into a dryer and turning it on for an hour and go back expecting to find the typewriter fully assembled. Something like a hundred billion to one!
I will stick to my prayer answering God! Nobody is going to make a monkey out of me!

As a Christian, I believe in creation and evolution as they are both based in scripture and science. But to believe in only one or the other, regardless of what we are "taught" in school or church is to close your mind to the reality of God's universe! Be blessed!

Really. When this month did scientists create a lifeform in a lab? Have you noticed on your street a species that bridged the gap between fish and fowl? When, with the exception of "Heroes", have you seen a mutation maintain its uniqueness in its decendants, with the exception of plants?
Who dropped out at the 4th grade?
All creation testify to an intelligent creator from galaxies to the makeup of chromosones and quarks.
