Hurley's dad (played by Cheech) returned after he got the lottery money-great absent dad there. Then you have Walt, his dad is making an effort to be a good dad. Hey he has killed for Walt, now that is a dad. And funny-he and Walt got to leave.
Ben's Dad-drunk and mean
Claire's and Jack's-Drunk and absent alot
Hurley's Dad-Absent
Charlie's dad-didn't he say once that his dad liked the brother more, thought he had more talent
Kate's mom-picked an abusive step dad over her own child
Locke's dad-um, well just a bad guy
Sawyer's dad-killed S.'s mom and himself
Shannon-her dad's new wife got all the money and pushed her out with no money
The cop lady-didn't her mom become a cop because she was a single mom and need to make money?
Echo-not sure
Syaid-not sure
Libby-not sure
Sun-Her dad is a mob boss
Jin-his dad may not be his dad as his mom was a prostitute and said he was the father, so he raised him as his own son-so here is a good dad, bad mom
Desmon-not sure
Juliet-not sure
It does stack up to some family issues doesn't it! So with that in mind-isn't it odd that the big thing with the Others is having children?

Yes have noticed, have also realised that certain characters have another connection like Kate picked up with the girl that was swindled by Sawyer, Hurley owned the box company John Lock worked for. Jack met Desmond before island. There's loads of others that connected too won't ruin it for others though.

That's quite a good theory.
Jack - alcoholic dad.
Kate - killed her step-dad.
Locke - ripped off by con-merchant dad.
Sawyer - con-merchant ripped off dad who then shot himself.
Hurley - dad disappeared.
Sun - overprotective gangster dad.
Although Sawyer's dad was the victim, he was not dodgy himself. And Jin's dad was fine, he was just a fisherman. I don't think we know anything about Charlie's or Claire's dad.

I reckon that they are afflicted by dad problems - cause Ben has dad problems and this is imposed on them from him.
