That was before parents stopped disciplining their children. Put the fear back in them...see what happens.

The turn of the tide occurred during the 90's when the "war on drugs" was first launched. It has over educated a whole generation and torn apart more middle class families than anyone predicted. Consequences don't stop at the "kid" they extend into the community. When smoking became a "crime" in California it caused a rift in the home of parents who smoke and their children, then those children have no one to turn to for help because they think their parent(s) are "drug addicts for smoking and having wine with dinner. By stripping away family trust the "DARE" program shot the community out from under the children leaving them to determine their own fate. In essence the DARE program created a sort of Lord of the Flies mentality - there are no adults to guide you so you are on your own. It is a very sad time in our society when children are bereft of family because the educational system has stripped it from them in the name of "responsible education".

Spare the Rod Spoil the Child! Too many people are yelling Child Abuse when in fact, when you let your children run wild, THAT is child abuse and neglect!
My parents only spanked me when I needed it and you better believe that I didn't do whatever caused the whipping in the first place, ever again! They corrected me out of love and the desire for me to grow up as a mature, respectable individual. And I did!
I am not an advocatee of child abuse, that is wrong and should be punishable by law. I am however a advocat of spanking a bottom when the child NEEDS to be spanked. There are times when "time out" just won't fit the bill!
To love a child is to correct them, even when that correction involves spanking their bottoms!
Proverbs 13:24
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Ah, yes, the good old days.
But the world has gotten crazy. Drugs and violence and shootings, and so on. Every day, I pray for my grandkids safety.

I think we expect too much out of our kids. We should stop and think about how hard it was to be a teen. No one's perfect but one!
