Tell him or her that it is disturbing other people who are trying to do their work. That is a perfectly good reason for them to stop.

I would go to the direct manager.. Explain it hinders your work ability and puts ya in a very bad mood listening to the awful singing all day!! And maybe if nothing is done. try the HR (human resources) person..
And if none of the above works get a ipod with the earphones and chill out to some happy music to your ears!!

Have you brought this up to your Boss. They can take care of these annoyances far better than you can. The fact that he is a distraction, and a pain in the ear, should be enough for the higher ups to put an end to this problem.

I agree with ZZ above...just tell him politely that his singing is distracting you from doing your work and could he please stop or at least keep his tone at a low level. If he doesn't stop, then tell your supervisor. IT is not uncommon for coworkers to want peace at work. We have to wear headphones and speak low at my work due to the fact, and it works best for everyone.

Then you need to do him a favor and tell him he is not good, that he needs singing lessons and he's extremely rude and inconsiderate of others. No one wants to hear him all day long.
That's it.

I bet if you walked up to him with a pair of scissors and snipped his headphone cord in two he would get the point.

Go to the boss, or, if you don't want to get that drastic... Leave him an anonymous note that his singing is annoying and distracting.

tell the person that his singing is distracting ... and that he keep getting songs in your head ... that wont imply that he's bad but it should get him to stop
