*Homemade Trail Mix

Peanuts (great source of protein)
Raisins
Yogurt morsels (kinda like the chocolate chips)
Plain M&M's

*Or granola bars (without all the chocolate coating - that's where the unhealthy part comes in).

*Or if you have a cooler - chips and salsa. Salsa is fat free and has lots of veggies in it for you. Or another for the cooler, celery stalks with PB on top or cut up carrots.

Fruit and Water are always a good thing to bring on any road trip.

On a road trip, you are generally going to want foods that will not go bad quickly and are healthy. Remember - never eat whilst driving; both hands need to be on the wheel at all times. That said - here are some ideas:

try some celery. You may need to keep it in a cooler with some ice, but nothing beets celery for a nice, cool relaxing vegitable, especially when eaten at a nice roadside picnic table.

How about some raisins!! Open up a box when you have parked at a scenic overlook and ENJOY!

Every one love bottled water - especially on a hot day - take a couple bottles.

I hope you are taking a cooler for such a long road trip. I like to freeze bottled water before leaving, put it in the cooler with vegetable sticks, string cheese, fruit and maybe some lunch meat. The frozen water keeps your food cold, and you have nice cold water to drink as it melts.

Trail mix, dried fruits etc.,as others have mentioned. Don't forget about the roadside stands with fresh fruits and veggies. Yum

Have a fun and safe trip.

Fruits, nuts, protein bars, trail mix (bear naked has a great trail mix), dried fruit.
If I was going on a road trip, that is exactly what I would take :)

Hope it helps and have fun!

Granola bars provide energy longer. Fruit is great for an extra boost. Get your salt with regular meals.

Try some popcorn and pretzels. They both travel well and give you that full feeling. Don't forget the water and juice.

Good Luck and have fun.
