I am a 25 year old still living at home with his parents and I have a gf who wants to get somewhere in life with me, but I can not seem to move forward to finding a great job/career. I am finishing up my 1st year of college and I still don't know what I want to major in. I have a messed up work history and employers look down on me because of that. I am great with computers and inputting information into databases. I have no job history with that, but I apply to office/clerical jobs and no one hires me. I just wish that God could look over me and give me that one big break that can change my life forever. Everyone is so stressed out because they want to see me get ahead in life and have a future for myself. I get so emotional everyday because I try applying to jobs, but no answers. I just had hoped someone could be my angel and give me the one best answer that could change me forever. I have looked into work at home jobs, but they seem all scams. Any help would be appreciated.

Since you are great with computers try to find a job that is related to that. Most people do very well doing what they love to do.

Try to get a job at Geek Squad (Best Buy) or something similar. A lot of people these days get home networks and they need help to set up and they are willing to pay for it.
Become you own boss. If you are good, people will recommend you to their friends and your business will grow.

Finally, be patient. The great job will come. In job hunting, they say, you will get a hundred No, and one Yes.

You mentioned you are great with computers, that is a wide open field with a good future. Stick with what you have fun doing and spend a lot of time doing with passion, and then go down that as a career path. The secret is show great enthusiasm to whatever you persue, the doors will open for you. Never give up, there is always a door open for you somewhere. Turn your stress into positive energy. Then focus all that energy into learning more about that field, you will come across as confident and intellectual and the jobs will come to you. Employers love confident and passionate people.

I lived at home until I got married at 32, it's no big deal so don't worry about that. At 25 don't make a commitment to a career until you're sure about what you want, and with only 1 year done you have time. What kind of messed up work history? If something illegal you can't avoid that problem. But if you mean something like to many jobs in a short period of time don't worry, when you finish college ( you better do that) you will be able to stabilize you life. Tell all those other people who are "stressed out" about your life that you appreciate their concern but they are stressing you out and making it harder to figure out what you want. You're young and single so don't make the mistake that you have to make every body else happy, you have to be happy first before it's their turn.

How about a Database Administrator? Database Consultant? Database Manager? Database Marketing Manager? Check out jobs with major financial services companies such as Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Wachovia, JP Morgan Chase, as they use technology as a weapon for data mining purposes and marketing efforts. Find what you like to do and simply go for it to be happy in your job. Some of these companies allow you to work from a "Virtual Office" such as your home. Don't worry about what everyone else thinks, says or worries about? Sure they care but only you can control your career path and pursuit of your career goals and endeavors. Focus on your strenghts and search for a career advancement opportunity which interests you. Good Luck! :-)
