Well my first advice would be to not buy jarred Alfredo sauce, it's pretty easy to make, but that of course doesn't help you now.
Try adding a splash of lemon juice (the emulsifiers in jarred sauce should keep the cream from separating), and then add some more Parmesan. The lemon should cover up that plastic-y taste. You might also try a little Tabasco, which just makes everything better to me. If you want more richness, try mixing in some butter, or some tamari or Worcestershire (not a lot, it will turn the sauce dark, and could get it too salty as well). I would use real butter, since you have enough substitutes in your jar already.
Good luck.

Well I like the Classico roasted garlic alfredo. I saute a package of sliced mushrooms in butter with garlic, then dump in the sauce. Then add a good splash of half and half or cream, whatever's on hand. And a handful of grated Parm/asiago/Romano from the freezer. Add some fresh grated pepper and maybe some parsley or cilantro. It tastes just like it came from a restaurant.

Add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes.
about a 1/3 c of white wine.
saute' in olive oil about 1/4 c shallots and 2-3 cloves garlic (garlic to taste)
fresh cracked pepper
If you really want to get fancy grill some tomatoes until charred season with salt and pepper. cut into chunks.
add all ingredients and enjoy. You will never know it came from a jar at all.

Add some crumbled, cooked bacon into it, for a carbonara sauce - the smoky flavor with help cover that fake flavor of the jar sauce.
Or try some slivers of roasted red peppers - that's really good!
Put a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes in it, and some freshly ground black pepper.
Smash in some roasted garlic.
Add some freshly chopped chives. Or try some fresh basil or parsley.

add a bechemel sauce, or a bit more parmesan cheese. Bechamel Sauce 5 tablespoons butter 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour 4 cups milk 2 teaspoons salt 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg In a medium saucepan, heat the butter over medium-low heat until melted. Add the flour and stir until smooth. Over medium heat, cook until the mixture turns a light, golden sandy color, about 6 to 7 minutes. Meanwhile, heat the milk in a separate pan until just about to boil. Add the hot milk to the butter mixture 1 cup at a time, whisking continuously until very smooth. Bring to a boil. Cook 10 minutes, stirring constantly, then remove from heat. Season with salt and nutmeg, and set aside until ready to use. *you can add parmesan cheese to the bechemel to make it thicker and cheesier.

chopped fresh parsley and some lemon zest are always good options, along with a little extra parmasean cheese, I would say lemon juice as well but I would take it slow with that as the acid may curdle the dairy in the sauce.
