I'm trying to burn fat in my hips, butt and thighs. I guess you can say i'm a classic pear shape. You can see my ribs but my lower half is chunky.

I am 25 years old. I'm 5'0" and I weigh 106lbs. My waist is 23.5" and my thighs are 22", my hips are wide too at 38". I can't seem to lose weight there.

I do 1hr on the elliptical 5 days a week and eat a healthy balanced diet no more than 1300cal per day. Ive been doing this routine for about 3 weeks now and all i've done is gain a ton of muscle in my thighs, which were already muscluar to begin with. I'd appreciate any advice that you can give me.

i've been following a trainers advice for about a month now, and like you i was frustrated bc i am short (5'1) and i am gaining a lot of muscle( hence gaining weight not losing it), BUT now, on the 25th day my trainer was right-- and the weight is falling off. so my advice is to stick to your routine, let the muscle develop then wait it out, and the weight will come off! good luck!

Ok first off your shape is your shape...you can't change the shape that you are...

This means that if your bone structure is a pear shape even if you loose weight in certain areas you'll still be a pear shape. Don't be discourage though... try to make the best tone body you can make considering your shape. When you exercise you're targeting your "total" body fat percentage not just a particular area, it's impossible to loose weight in one area while keeping other areas the same....I know it's not fair we think but it's the truth. You have to reduce your total body fat percentage to eliminate fat in an area that you don't want fat stored. You don't want to just target one area because more than likely it'll bulk up with muscle which won't give you that lean toned body you're looking for.

Try Pilates it'll help give you the best look for your body type.

~Wish you the best~

When you start working out you always gain a little muscle mass. Keep up what you're doing, and you'll get the results you're looking for. You may actually need to up your calorie intake for the amount of exercise you're doing. If you starve yourself, you store fat, not lose it. With the type of program you have you could easily add 200 more calories a day and lose a ton of weight.

You are what you eat. Muscle gain is due to our intake of proteins. Maybe you can try to cut down the amount of proteins in your diet. =) It takes time, so be patient.

Hope it helps! All the best!

walking is the best. swimming or riding a bike is also good. I noticed a real difference in my butt and thighs after riding my bike to work every day.
