The banana argument is a variation on the argument from design, saying that some things are the way they are because they were designed especially for our pleasure and comfort.

Note that the banana:

Is shaped for human hand
Has non-slip surface
Has outward indicators of inward content:
Green — too early
Yellow — just right
Black — too late
Has a tab for removal of wrapper
Is perforated on wrapper
Bio-degradable wrapper
Is shaped for human mouth
Has a point at top for ease of entry
Is pleasing to taste buds
Is curved towards the face to make eating process easy

So, let me get this right. Because the banana has all the properties listed in Amber's response (above), the Intelligent Design faction assumes this is proof of God's literal existence, or proof that evolution is invalid? That's pure unadulterated irrational fantasy. If you really want to understand why a banana is what it is, ask a biologist who specializes in grasses-- not a Christian with a poorly hidden religious agenda!!!

Ray Comfort (and Kirk Cameron) use a banana to illustrate how brilliant god was in designing such a thing. You can hold it in your hand, the peel "opener" is right at the top, it's delicious and healthful, etc.

Then we're informed that the banana as we know it was designed by humans, not god. It's original form was a bitter and inedible wild fruit that barely resembles today's banana.

I'm in the same boat as you and I've been on here while you've been gone. I definitely missed something one day.

Oh. i just read Amber's explanation. That's kind of pitiful.

I don't like bananas. . .
