i know a dear friend who's frequently bullied in work..i can't give her any help but just be a listener.the problem is her boss. my firend, on the ither hand, couldn't do anything about it but to just tolerate the somewhat hurtful jokes because yeah she's her boss...what do you think she needs to do?any advice?

In most situations, if you don't stand up for yourself, you'll never get any respect. If her boss is being hurtful, she should approach her and let her know that it bothers her. Her boss may think that it's all in good fun, but confronted with the fact that it bothers her, the boss may tone down her behaviour. On the other hand, it may make the situation worse. In that case, your friend should make a report to a supervisor. If she doesn't get any satisfaction, she should probably look for a new job.

Oftentimes in work, we are asked to sacrifice in order to keep the job. That's reasonable since they are paying us, but it is not reasonable that anybody should feel uncomfortable or threatened at work. She should definitely approach her boss, one on one, to talk about what bothers her.

Your question scans as rather confusing Conundrum . Was it supose to read like that ?.
General advice this sort of bullying really gets me upset .
Get your friend to leave you cant do anyting with a bully , they wont change thier ways thats partof thier game .
All you can do is let them battle along before they find a new victim . dont be taken in by agreements to changae as soon as they get a person to stay they ae back to thier old tricks.
And it does no oes ego good to stay taking this treatment I wouldnt have any respect for someone who did

Your friend should go to her boss's boss and explain the situation from her point of view. If she still gets no relief, she may want to consider looking elsewhere for employment. There's no reason to have to put up with bullying, especially if superiors are not willing to correct it.
