My kids after school don't eat just one snack after school, they act like they are starving and want to cook meals. My wife takes the time to cook a good dinner and the kids won't be hungry since their stomach is still full.
I'm just tring to get some good snack ideas to keep the kids from eating big after school meals.
I'm not home when they are right after school so its hard and kids will be kids and will eat everything but the healthy stuff.
Thanks for your ideas.
PEACE!

My mother always had a big bowl of fruit on the counter. We could have as much as we wanted, but no other in between meal snacks. She also didn't let us watch TV all afternoon, but had chores for us or let us play. Of course, we didn't have video games then, either.

I am more relaxed with my kids, but like mother like daughter, I always have a big bowl of fruit on the counter, and the kids usually run in, grab a piece of fruit, dump their junk on the kitchen table and take off for whatever they have planned. I do know if I'm baking cookies before they come home, I'd better have most of them baked and stored before they storm in, lol.

Sometimes, if school lunch was "gross", they'll fix a sandwich or wrap.

Good luck! Keeping kids healthy is an ever increasing task with all the junk available.

clean fruit and vegetables from the backyard in the summertime. My mom in no way quibbled approximately us choosing a cucumber or a carrot or a handful of strawberries for a snack as quickly as we've been infants. It relatively became right into plenty better for us than cookies (that have been continuously selfmade--in no way save offered). in the different months whilst the clean stuff wasn't obtainable, we infants ought to in many cases be got here across raiding the pickle jar. Mum placed up dozens of dill pickle jars each and every fall, that have been splendidly crunchy and bitter. those pickles have been easily coveted by potential of the neighbourhood infants besides, and it became into ordinary to commerce off a pickle for something that they had that we could desire (which contains a matchbox vehicle).

A bag of chips of little debbie snacks. Although I dont know if that's what you want to feed your kids before dinner. Try having them make smoothies or somethin with lots of fruit. It's a great treat to have now, it will cool them down and fill them up for awhile.

PBJ by far is my kids' favorite. You have to try "peanut butter banana burritos." Spread the flour tortilla with PB, slice the banana in half both ways and place on tortilla. roll it up and cut it in thirds. Top it with a cup of milk- YUM! This makes for a quick breakfast or snack and it's nutritious!

My favorite was chocolate chip cookies. They were something like Grandma's ........ They came two to a package and were huge! I don't know if they make those anymore, but mom always let me have those two cookies in the afternoon and that got me through to dinner at 6:30.
