How in the world is that racist? Disapproving of Al Sharptons remarks certainly doesn't make you racist. That's ridiculous. I hope you don't actually believe that.
Try not to generalize people. Not everyone feels the same about this issue (whether or not blacks should have higher degree of verbal freedom than other people).
My opinion is that Al Sharpton should say whatever he wants. I completely support freedom of speech. But there shouldn't be any double standards. EVERYONE, regardless of race, color, religion, etc..., should be permitted to say whatever they want.

"they have been oppressed and picked on mercilessly for the last 25 years"
25 years!!! Where did you get that number from try 400+. No, it doesn't make you racist, if you disagree with a person, or decisions that they make. It is only becomes racist, when you disagree simply because of their color, and not their ideology or logic. Sharpton is not cut slack. Do you watch the OReilly Factor, MSNBC NEWS, or some of the other right wing shows that come on FOX. You can disagree with a person's thinking, ideas and views without it being racist. It only become about race when we magnify the person's race, and then say they act or feel this way because of their color.

Actually Blacks have been
"picked on" for a little more than 25 years, say oh, the last couple hundred years or so?
I don't think that we should dwell on the past, but live in the present. No one should be cut any slack for any racist remarks, no matter what color they are. No one should be cut any slack for any derogatory remarks about other religions either.

I'm a little confused about what your actual question is but I will say this: racism has nothing to do with criticism. The fact that you even have to ask that is kind of sad. Our culture has become stragely defensive about things like this. I don't think the good reverend himself would call you a racist if you had a legitimate gripe with something he said or did.
I would call you a racist for saying that the black people in this country have only been picked on for 25 years. You realize that means the beginning of the oppression of blacks would have only started in like 1982, right? Blacks have been having troubles much much longer than that. I think these problems persist because people are so ill informed about the facts that our history has to show us.

Not at all. You should feel free to criticize Al Sharpton all you want. You could criticize that troublemaker all day without making a single racist remark.

Derogatory remarks about ANYBODY, whether about their religion, or about their race should not be tolerated. I don't care WHO says it. A LOT of groups have been oppressed in the past, not just them. If we are EVER going to put a stop to racial intolerance, we have to start now, and everybody has to get on-board with it. Those who refuse, no matter what their race, religion or country of origin, should be put out to sea together in the Bermuda Triangle.

the rev sharpton and rev jackson ARE racists...
and not very religious either...
What have they done for the whitey's or the asian's or any other race than the black's???
That's being racist !
On the other hand...
What do they know about religion?
except that religion and what the rev's say are the same: lies and deceptions - ALL the time!
If they could only understand one thing:
There is only ONE Race = The Human Race;
any person that say's a color (race), is racist...
and the blacks are the biggest offender's of crying racism... !
That's straight up, rev. sharpy and jacky!

Hot question.
I don't think ANYONE has the right to tear apart anyone else. For any reason. Not Race, creed, or sex. And yes I do think that sometimes African Americans can say a bit more then say a white man could in public because people are too afraid to call it. And as far as African Americans being picked at for 25 years? More like 250. But as long as people keep bringing it up and picking at the wound, it will never heal. Is it history? Yes. Should it be forgotten? No. Should it be thrown in our face when most of us didnt even have relitives here at the time? No. Its a hard walk to walk, but we all need to meet in the middle.

Mr. Sharpton is black, so what?? He does not represent the black race. He is apart of a think tank. He is their representative.
Black people have endure many more years than 25 of ignorance, hatred, and abuse. Don't you think it is time to stop this with your generation?
