I need to know if anyone here owns one, and have you done any upgrade to the front nose to protect them from flying debri?
and also, what's the top speed for this aircraft?
Thanks.

The original B55 (A,B) series were 260HP and were rated at 188-191 knots for cruise. The one I owned was about 185knots noramally.

The other B55 (C,D,E) series were 285HP and were rated at 200 knots for cruise. (I trained in the C series and it was 195 knots normal cruise)
Check the specs on http://tradeaplane.com (perf specs) its a good resource.

I had a 3M clear cover that after a repaint was ordered and installed on the nose. It did a great job protecting the nose from chips. (It wasn't debri but normal dirt, bugs, rain, etc that causes the wear.)

There is a mod for these to get 300HP called the Colemill President Conversion. It indeed makes these a true 200 knot plus aircraft and it raises the fuel consumption from 22-24 gal/hr to about 27-28. In the T.O. and Landing phase you will see 35gal/hr burn rate. (I know I did that..wow what a boost!)

Why do you need to protect it from flying debri? You should not be flying any aircraft in debri.

Top speed for a B55 is 150-160knts depending on the engines.

As far as nose protection is concerned, I have seen a lot of them and all seem to have at least some paint missing off the nose. I don't know what you could put on there to keep the wear down. The normal cruise is 185-190 knots, and occasionally 200 at max power.

BTW the proper designation is Be95-B55.
