I read an answer here in R&S which said that goths and emos come from religious families. What does this mean? I'm probably wrong, but I imagined goths were people like "Abby" on the TV show NCIS. I have no idea what emos are. I've been out of circulation for decades. Please bring me up to date.......

Emo means emotional. They like bands that express themselves in rather high pitched vocals, like Dashboard Confessional or Death Cab for Cutie is considered Emo music. Emo usually dress in darker colors, because they're upset about something and want to show it to the world. They can have unusual haircuts, a way of self expression and saying "I don't conform to your style."

"Shallow" virtually signifies that you pass judgement on persons on their look instead than their character and emotions. Example: Bob: "I'm best peers together with her considering she's sizzling." John: "You're so shallow."
