I'm hopy that by making a mirror image it'll work exactly the same as the source drive. Can it be done using Windows or is it more efficient with other software?
Thanks.

Copying or imaging a hard drive can not be accomplished with the use of windows. You must use an imaging program such as Norton Ghost, Drive Copy, etc. The image that these programs create on the second (destination) hard drive will be exactly the same as the source drive. You can then switch to the imaged drive and all will be the same.

If you are attempting to Image a drive to use in another machine, then that machine needs to be exactly the same as the source machine. It must have the same motherboard, video card, PCI card, CPU, etc. If the hardware is different then the drivers on the imaged drive will not work. Also, Windows will know that the MAC addresses of your hardware have changed and will require that you re-register your operating system.

It is easier with a program such as Norton Ghost or Acronis TrueImage...

I prefer the Acronis product as they give you a free trial and it is REALLY easy to use.

It will create and exact copy of your drive.
